My Dodge is taking too long to change into 2nd gear. While it's in 1st it just winds up until it finally changes into 2nd at about 3,000 RPM's. It's not slipping, just taking too long to change. I took it to shop but they don't know what it is. Any ideas? Thanks.Dodge Ram tranny problems...I think, need some advice.?
I'd start with making sure the transmission filter and fluid is checked then replaced with the proper factory recommended materials, then I'd be sure to change the gas filter on it especially if I'd not changed it on a regular yrly basis or run low on gas on a vehicle etc.Don't forget that even a dirty gas filter can cause improper transmission functions to occur too.
Hope that helps and best of luck.By the way Dodge uses a thin type of wire in a lot of their comp circuits so be sure if possible to have the grounds going to the transmission comp=TCM checked , plus the 12 volt feeds that it has going to it and coming from it too. Many vehicles have bad grounds and it's best at times just to add a whole new fresh new ground and ground wire etc.Dodge Ram tranny problems...I think, need some advice.?
Could be the governer pressure sensor or gov press transducer. They can clog up with worn clutch debris that buiulds up. Also that particular tranny needs regular adjustments made to the front and rear bands. If they are out of adjustment all sorts of shifting problems can happen.
jlittle has a point you can also check your wiring thou, i know that if your solinodes is sticking then you will not changes gears or it will be really rough. look for a diagram and look at the wires
You don't mention what kind of Dodge (Ram 1500, Intrepid, Stratus, ?). Engine size? Year? How many miles? What trans is it? Any ideas?
change you tranny filter and fluid
