I need advice for this very weird problem?

I am often awakened in the middle of the night by the feeling that there is a very bright light shining on me. I open my eyes, and the room is dark. I sleep with my curtains closed and live on the third floor, so there is no external light.

This happens to me often, sometimes several times a night, and it is very troublesome, to say the least!

Ever heard of this? Any ideas what causes it?I need advice for this very weird problem?
My first reaction is to suggest you have your eyes checked. Then go see your Doctor. It is more than likely nothing, but do have it checked.

The optical nerve is in the back of the brain and passes through the whole of the brain to reach the eye. Any degree of pressure upon any point may lead to flashes and/or pain.

That said, it may be you are experiencing some fine degree of electrical discharge in the brain, why and where is the question. Again, go and check with your GP. Bet he has heard of it before!I need advice for this very weird problem?
possible dream state. If really bothersome, check with a neurologist especially if it is a new onset.
Maybe.... theres a stalker outside your window or in your closet that uses a flashlight to watch you when you sleep, but when you start to wake up, he turns it off....

eerie...
You know something. Sometimes the same thing happens to me. I know what you are talking about all too well. It is very annoying that is for sure.

And I am on the second floor and I too sleep with the curtains closed, but I do have a light on so that when I get up in the middle of the night I can see where I am going. So I don't think a light being left on would help you, as it doesn't seem to help me.
i don't know..try sleeping with a night light and see how that goes.
It might be from a blip in your frontal lobes. Did you recently stop using a sleep drug?
Maybe you have a sleep disorder ... I'll research on this some more
just for a comparison, try sleeping with a light on. This is actually your REM sleep that is active
Perhaps a recurring dream? As a previous poster said, it's during your Rapid Eye Movement (REM) sleep. Perhaps something's been bothering you, subconsciously.

Try performing aerobic exercise for at least 30 minutes three times a week, or performing strenuous chores - anything that will tire you out physically. Maybe that will allow you to sleep through the night...
Go to your Dr there may be a pressure build up in the brain likley around the optic nerve

Don't think Tumor because its more likely to be a cyst. Still scary but treatable.
i think this mostly comes from ur imagination unless there is an unidentified lighting tat shine to ur house..
