Need advice on possible software problem?

Well im no PC expert but on my fathers laptop some programs wont open anymore, such as IE and Outlook Express.





I have already tried running AVG scan and it came back fine with no virus's.


I tried opening IE from run and going in to program files


...still nothing.


Programs like My Documents open fine.





(its connected to the internet and that works okay)








any thoughts ?Need advice on possible software problem?
2 possible solutions.





1. You or someone has changed the mouse clicks in Control Panel, check it.


Control Panel %26gt; Mouse, set it for 'Double-click' to start a program.





2. To make sure that the program, the executable file (filename.exe) is not corrupt, use Windows Explorer, find the folder, click the folder name twice to open the files section on the right side of the window. Double-click the application to see if it works, if so, OK. If not, the application is corrupt, re-install the program.

PS: This can happen when someone fools around with stuff they're not sure of.
