Need advice on diagnosing 4 wheel drive problem on 1996 suburban?

I have a 1996 suburban that I am fixing up to sell, the 2 wheel and 4 wheel drive buttons are not lighting up on the dash and it is not shifting in and out of four wheel drive either. Can any help on what to look for first in this situation?Need advice on diagnosing 4 wheel drive problem on 1996 suburban?
With no lights or functionalty, this is no-doubt electrical. As mentioned above, check the fuses (don't forget the ones in the engine compartment). If they are all good, you will need someone that knows how to diagnose elctrical issues, and has a good stockpile of schematics, to look at the vehicle. Check the fuses. If they are good, you may have a vacuum leak.
