Problems with changing from a lip stud to a ring! Advice needed!?

I got my lip pierced three months ago now. It was done at an angle halfway between horizontal and vertical, meaning i had to have quite a long bar put in - over 10mm. This isn鈥檛 a problem at all as the back sits well above my gums and it doesn鈥檛 bother me that you can see the back when i talk. I told them when i had it done that i wanted to have a ring in when it had healed so i'm not sure if it was intentional or not.

I've tried out putting a ring in, got one the right size for my lip and everything but after about half a day the back gets really sore and a bit swollen. Is it because i'm trying to put a curved ring into a hole that was pierced to be straight? When this happens should i leave the ring in to allow it to settle around that shape? I always put the stud back in, is it just the taking in and out that鈥檚 aggravating the skin? I do eventually want to wear the ring permanently. What do you suggest?Problems with changing from a lip stud to a ring! Advice needed!?
it should'nt matter if you got your lip pierced with a bar or not, your skin is pliable so should take a ring no problem.I would maybe wait a little longer before changing to a ring as some piercings can actually take 9 months to fully heal.I hope when you're changing the jewelry you sterilize it before putting it in as this can introduce bacteria into the piercing. If you're still having problems go back and see your piercist for advise.Good luck.
